Good Thought Thursday- Pearls

". . .The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."*

You are precious like that fine pearl. You are special enough for Someone to give up everything in order to buy your freedom. You are beautiful and special.

Jesus is that merchant, buying your freedom, but it is your choice whether you abide in that freedom. The world says that you must look a certain way, or be valuable through the cost of your valuables. It certainly is not true. Just like there is a depth of beauty lacking in an imitation pearl, there is no true beauty in the world's imitations.

Your value and beauty lies in your Maker's eyes. He created you from dust (sand, perhaps?), and covers you with layer upon layer of grace and mercy and love until you shine with warmth and joy.

There is an old song that goes, "The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows." The longer we serve Jesus, the more he is able to add His layers of beauty. For those uncertain of taking that step toward your beauty in Christ. It is never too late to be shined and polished, like the skillful hands of a pearl cleaner, removing the flawed layers to allow the best to shine.
